Forever Gone: Chapter 3
Chapter Four:
Faye
2010
I sensed someone looking at me. I turned around and found a boy with light brown hair staring at me. It seemed like he knew, but I had no idea who it was. One thing that was strange about him was that he had light violet eyes; he must be wearing contacts unless he was born with those eyes, which would be very unusual.
“Faye,” someone called my name.
It was Skye.
“Hey,” I said turning away from the boy.
“Are you excited,” she asked walking with a book bag hanging over one shoulder.
“Am I supposed to be?”
“NO, because school here is like death,” she said fiddling with her heart shaped necklace.
I smiled. “Well, if we don’t’ go now we’re going to go to hell for sure.”
She looked at her watch. “Oh crap.” She dragged me into the building with her.
My first period class was history. I took a seat at the back of the room, since everyone had already taken their seat. The tardy bell rang and the door flew opened like it was planned. The boy that looked at me at the parking lot came in.
“Mr...,” Mrs. Herman asked looking at her attendance sheet like it was going to give her the answer.
“Greene,” he answered.
“Mr. Greene I hope you are aware that you are late for history,” she told him putting her glasses on.
“I am aware of that Mrs. Herman,” he answered.
She nodded. “Take a seat then.”
He looked around for a seat, but the only seat left was the one right next to me. He walked over and sat next to me.
“Alright open your textbooks to page 24 and start answering the questions,” Mrs. Herman said taking a seat at her desk.
“Can I borrow a pen,” someone asked. I turned and looked at me.
“You’re talking to me,” I asked.
He smiled. “Yes, I believe it’s only you here.”
“Sure,” I said and I dug out a pen from my messenger bag. “Here.”
I handed him my pen.
“Thank you,” he said and started working on his questions. The rest of the period was basically pure boring. I did my classwork and tried to answer every question I know. My next class was art and I was in the same class as Skye.
I took a seat next to Skye and her other friends.
“Okay we are going to sketch something that means a lot to you during your childhood,” Mr. Jeffrey announced. “I want this to be one of your best sketches that you have ever drawn.”
Skye sighed. “God, I suck in art, why did I bother to take this class in my last year at WGR.”
“Ha me neither,” a girl called Mandy said. “I wasn’t going to take this class, but this one of the easiest class I could take.”
Mr. Jeffrey interrupted hearing the conversation. “Please do not think this class as easy, because if your drawings are not good I would fail you and it won’t be a good mark for you colleges.”
We nodded. I took out my sketch pad.
“Hey did you guys see the new hot guys in school today,” Dawn asked. Skye looked up.
“Oh my god, I totally saw them, I think it was something like Ashton, Basil, and what?”
“Evan, I think Evan is the hottest,” Mandy said drawing a line on her paper.
“Yeah me too, you should have seen those light violet eyes, those. are. totally. hot,” Dawn said pronouncing the words carefully.
“Hey doesn’t he sit next to you in history class,” Skye asked looking at me. I looked up from my sketch.
I nodded. “Yeah.”
“OMG, you are so lucky,” Mandy said with her eyes glowing.
“Girls no more talking and more working,” Mr. Jeffrey told us. They all shut up.
“What are you going to draw,” Skye asked looking at my sketch pad.
I shrugged. “A necklace.”
“A necklace,” she repeated.
“Yeah, this is one,” I showed her the one that Greg send me ten years ago, but I just received it last week.
“That looks very unique,” she said looking at my emerald necklace.
“Thank you,” I said and I started to sketch the necklace without looking at it.

I put down my book as I sense Basil coming toward my room. I got up and opened the door for him.
“God, I hate when you do this,” Basil said rolling his eyes. “Well, are you ready for school yet?”
I winced when he said the word school. “I have no idea why agreed on going to school with you guys.”
He smiled. “You own me, dude.”
I nodded. “Well, I’m ready. Seriously I hope I won’t go crazy when I’m around those humans.”
“Yeah whatever, we’re leaving,” he said already half way out the door. “Ana is so enthusiastic.”
I smiled when he emphasize the word so.
I got in the car and took a seat at the front of the car with Basil. Ana was sitting at the back with Rena and Ashton.
“I hope I’ll survive,” Rena said tying her shoelace.
“Yep, but my tummy is full so I’ll survive, at least today,” Ashton said rubbing his tummy.
I smiled. “We’re going to do fine. Hey by the way, can anyone tell me why I agreed on going to school with you guys?”
Ana laughed along with Rena and Ashton, like it was supposed to be a joke.
“Maybe you were on drugs,” Basil laughed turning into the parking lot of West Greenwich Regional High. “God what is with these people there everywhere.”
I looked out the window and agreed with him. There were many humans, I mean not even many; it was outnumbered. It was really noisy in the parking lot.
“That’s the first day of high school for human: loud and stupid,” Ashton joked.
“Stupid, their retarded, their basically holding up a sign that say kill me,” Ana said getting out the car. I grabbed hold of her hand before she got up. She looked at me.
“I won’t start sucking people blood,” she said and she got out.
I got out when something caught my attention.
It was her.
Faye McCarthy.
Basil saw me stuttered and came over. “What happen man?”
He must have saw it too because he was starting to look at her. She turned around from her friends and caught me looking. She almost looked like her mother reddish-brownish hair, tall, and slim, but she had those emerald color eyes that were very attractive, probably go it from her father.
She was wearing all black: black skinny jeans, black t-shirt, but then she wore neon green converse.
“Faye,” someone called. She finally looked away from me and started to talk to a dirty blonde hair girl.
“Who’s that,” I thought I heard Ashton whispered to Ana. She didn’t answer him, but her face was red now.
Oh god, Ana is jealous that you’re starring at the girl and not at her, Basil thought.
I elbowed him on the ribs. He flinched almost knocking over Rena.
“Dude, seriously watch it,” Rena cried.
“Blame him,” Basil said pointing at me.
I wasn’t paying attention now; I was looking at Faye McCarthy. I remembered her as an innocent girl, whose mother and brother died when she was only seven.

Last Summer Excerpt
I waked past her. "Wait," she called after me.
What now, I'm going to get my schedule what's your problem...
"What is your name," she asked cautiously like she was sfriad to ask for my name.
"Lee Young," I answered with confidence.
"Lee, I thought it was a guy's name, I knew a guy name Lee."
I tried to return a smile , but I can't instead I just stared at her. What she said was pretty offending.
"Anyway, I'll love to have you in my English class," she said and went out the office. I turned away from her and head to the front desk.
"Good Morning, I'm Miss. Jones, how can I help you," the front lady asked. She sounded like a message recorder. I'm glad the school hired her as the reception.
I grinned. "I'm new in Midwood and I'm here to get my schedule."

Last Summer
So today is my first day at Midwood High School and I already have an bad impression on the school. It smelled like rotten wood and apple cider mix together. I remember clearly that St. Harrison High never smelled like this; it smelled like sweet cotton candy that gives you a warm welcoming. I wished I was back in Wisconsin and that I didn't have to move to New York City and live with my cranky old hag Aunt Lilie.
She said that if I don't behave and get good grades, she'll kick me out the house. I wish she could that, but I knew that she was only threatening me so I'll act good. Sorry, but that's not going to happen. Once I'm eighteen I'm so gonna move out of this freaking shitty house.
I continue down to the main office that is in the little tiny corner of the first floor. I mean like seriously if the office is going to be so small, why bother to even make one. I walked in and a blond hair woman stopped me.
"What are you here for," she asked.
I looked up at her trying to make her invisible, but I knew that couldn't happen, so instead I answer her.
"I new here and I'm here to get my schedule sheet so I will be able to get to my first period class and not be late."
She tapped her brown high shoes against the tile floor like she was impatient. "Alright hurry up."

Forever Gone: Excerpt
I put the volume louder as I waited for my dad to pick it up from the Richmond Airport in Rhode Island. I haven’t been here for ten years, not since my mom died in a car accident with my brother, Greg.
I set my bags on the chair next to me and pulled my sweater back on. It was like a refrigerator here in the airport. The government just announced that they didn’t have enough money and this stupid airport is now blasting the air conditioner up. Seriously, people don’t have a mind here.
I looked at my watch again: 2:34. My dad was late for more than half an hour.
“Faye,” I heard someone shouted. I turned around and saw my dad wearing jeans and a t-shirt, next to him was a woman. I took off my earphones.
“Sorry, sweetie, kinda lost track in time,” he said picking my luggage up. I nodded.
“This is Julia, my girlfriend,” dad introduced. “Julia, Faye; Faye, Julia.”
The way he said girlfriend made me uncomfortable; I didn’t want to have a new mother, all I wanted was my biological one, but I know that I won’t get that. But I know that dad still has to move on without mom here.
I smiled. “Hi Julia.”
“Hello Faye,” she said. She had a heavy southern accent.
“Well, why don’t we get Faye settle in the house,” dad offered and carried my things to the car. I walked with Julia.
Dad moved here a week ago because he had to register for his new job in South County Hospital as headmaster of the ER department. I stayed at California with grandma as dad got his things done in Rhode Island. We thought that moving back here to Rhode Island would be a better start for him, since he just lost his job in California.
“So how did you meet dad,” I asked Julia.
She looked at me surprised. “Oh, we were in the same college a few years ago, I mean many years ago.” She was nervous and I could tell. “Really, ha that’s kind of funny.”
Julia’s eyes widen. “I mean like classmate to boyfriend and girlfriend.”
She relaxed. “You’re nervous aren’t you,” I asked.
She looked right into my eyes and nodded. Her eyes were blue and they were very attracting.
I gave her a nervous laugh. “Actually, I am too, but you seem nice and I like you.”
She smiled. “I like you too.”
Dad came walking toward us. “So what were you ladies talking about?”
I smiled. “About you and they aren’t good.”
Julia and I laughed and we went in the car. I could see the relieve face on dad’s face.
I went in my room. It was blue and green, just like it was ten years ago. My hand brushed against my new desk and remembered that it use to be a small, tiny drawing table that mom brought for me.
“Faye,” dad said standing at the door.
“Hey,” I said and he came in.
“Feels weird doesn’t it,” he asked sitting next to me on the bed. I nodded.
“I never thought that we would be back and that I would still be in this house either,” I said.
Dad nodded. “I mean we bought the house, so why buy another one.”
I nodded. “I like it here, it’s warm.”
Dad smiled. “Oh yeah I found letters on the table and some were yours and some were you mother, you know.”
I nodded. “I’ll take it all, it’s better to be hard than to be hard for both.”
I grabbed the letters out of his hand.
“Where’s Julia,” I asked trying to change the subject.
“Oh, I told her to go home and have a rest since we’re going to work tonight.”
“You’re going to work tonight,” I asked.
“Yeah and I actually have to leave now,” he said checking his watch.
I smiled. “It’s alright; I’m big enough to take care of myself. I’m no longer the little Faye that lived here ten years ago.”
He nodded his head and got up. “Good night, sleep well.”
I smiled and nodded. I know that I won’t sleep well tonight and we both knew that. I closed the door as I heard the front door shut. The bed seemed to be welcoming me and I plopped myself onto the bed. I reached for the letters as I scanned through them looking for letters that belong to me.

Crescendo

The published date for Crscendo by Becca Fitzpatrick is moved to October 19. That means it coming out a month early. Yay. Now they even have the prologue and first chapter online. And as usual it's best as ever.
Blurb:
Nora should have known her life was far from perfect. Despite starting a relationship with her guardian angel, Patch (who, title aside, can be described anything but angelic), and surviving an attempt on her life, things are not looking up. Patch is starting to pull away and Nora can't figure out if it's for her best interest or if his interest has shifted to her arch-enemy Marcie Millar. Not to mention that Nora is haunted by images of her father and she becomes obsessed with finding out what really happened to him that night he left for Portland and never came home.
The farther Nora delves into the mystery of her father's death, the more she comes to question if her Nephilim blood line has something to do with it as well as why she seems to be in danger more than the average girl. Since Patch isn't answering her questions and seems to be standing in her way, she has to start finding the answers on her own. Relying too heavily on the fact that she has a guardian angel puts Nora at risk again and again. But can she really count on Patch or is he hiding secrets darker than she can even imagine?
